Linda S. Armstrong (Mrs. Verigold) is a veteran actor and director of shows at First Federated Church, Winterset, and has appeared on The Playhouse stage in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and Lettice and Lovage. Linda is a support coordinator at CDS who enjoys gardening and crafts.

Susan Barnabo (Mrs. Chalkers) is an avid outdoorswoman and athlete. Stage credits include several shows at downtown Des Moines' Vaudeville Mews, including The Reindeer Monologues and Four Dogs and a Bone. Susan and husband Tom are the parents of Dalton (11-1/2) and Cole (10-1/2).

Sam Bates-Norum (Brian) is a fourth grader at Des Moines' Downtown School who loves reading, drama and baseball. His past Playhouse roles include Swamp Thing in The Frog Prince and Raccoon in Red Riding Hood.

Jenna Darsee (Lori Westin) says her favorite roles were Mary in Little House Christmas at Plum Creek and Minnie May in Anne of Green Gables, both at The Playhouse. Jenna is a seventh grader at Urbandale Middle School, active in softball, cross-country and show choir. She recently traveled to Australia as a People to People student amabassdor, and will be going with the organization to Europe in 2006.

Michael DeNato (Mr. Verigold) received his finance degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and his improv "degree" from Chicago's famed Second City. Since moving to Des Moines from Bogota, Colombia, he has starred as Rudy in Bent and run lights for The Smell of the Kill, both at Drama Workshop. Michael is renovating a house in the Riverbend Neighborhood.

Ruth Downey (Mrs. Nathan) is familiar to Des Moines area audiences from numerous shows and also volunteers backstage and front-of-house at The Playhouse with husband, Al. Ruth is retired from Investors Management Group, but works part-time as a bookkeeper at Masonry Products, Inc., and has been a church organist for more than 40 years.

Sue Gerver (Mrs. Ebbel) says acting is her passion. Her numerous stage credits include Spinning Into Butter at The Playhouse. Sue and her husband Paul enjoy fishing and supporting kids Carolyn, Erik and Paul Jr. in their various activities.

Jenna Guy (Melinda Birch) has played a variety of roles, from Angel to Gladys Herdman, in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, as well as Mrs. Bedelia in Come Back, Amelia Bedelia, all at The Playhouse. She is a seventh grader at Brody Middle School, Des Moines, who plays trombone and loves reading, writing, singing, acting and watching CSI.

Ron P. Hyde Jr. (Mr. Chalkers) is making his Playhouse debut, but was active in drama at his alma mater, Des Moines' Lincoln High School. His hobbies include running, playing tenor saxophone, making movies with his family, baking and dancing with wife Jacki.

Sarah Larson (Colleen Verigold), a seventh grader at The Academy School, Des Moines, likes swimming, singing, playing piano and having fun. Prior Playhouse roles include Baby Angel in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and Teacher Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz.

Alex Moran (Robbie) made his Playhouse debut in Little House Christmas at Plum Creek. He is an eighth grader at Indian Hills Junior High, West Des Moines. Alex spends time with friends playing paintball.

Matt Pierick (Jeff Fishkin) is making his Playhouse debut, but has had roles at St. Augustin's School, Des Moines, where he is an eighth grader. In addition to acting, Matt likes doing improv, playing video games and drawing comics.

Peter Tison (Bradley Chalkers) loves playing football, golfing and playing rounds of poker with friends, and is learning to play electric guitar. A seventh grader at Des Moines' Brody Middle School, Peter says that from his extensive Playhouse resumé, he would have to say his favorite role to date is Earthworm in James and the Giant Peach.

Melissa Reneé Voorhis (Carla Davis) has been seen in more than 30 roles on stages at Panama Central School (NY), Drake Univer-sity (Des Moines) and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center (CN), and as a member of Awareness Theatre (NY), an improvisational troupe. She is a director, designer and playwright. Melissa is currently student teaching at Hoover High School, Des Moines, and earning her acting, education and English degrees from Drake.

Kathy Pingel (Director) has an MA in performance studies and MAT from North-western University, IL. She taught at Southern Illinois University and New Trier (IL) High School before taking an extended sabbatical to raise Caitlin, Carin and Chris. Kathy has directed several Playhouse productions including Annie, Seussical the Musical and Biloxi Blues. She spent 2003-04 as education outreach coordinator at Orlando (FL) Repertory Theatre and, since returning to Iowa in 2004, joined The Playhouse as youth programming coordinator.

Angela Lampe (Costume Designer) is in her 13th season at The Playhouse, where her costuming credits include Ragtime, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Honk!, Children of Eden, Chicago and Shear Madness. She has created costumes for Iowa Lottery commercials and Terrace Hill (period costumes for tour guides and Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack). Angie also serves as a docent at the Des Moines Art Center.

Kevin Shelby (Scenic Designer) has designed countless sets for Des Moines area theatres over the years, and counts among his Playhouse favorites State Fair, Charlotte's Web and Sabrina Fair.

Craig Kaufman (Lighting/Sound Designer) is technical director at the Temple Theatre in downtown Des Moines, where he designed lights and sound for the Temple/Playhouse productions of Forever Plaid and Shear Madness. His most recent Playhouse credits include Chicago and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Nancy Darsee (Stage Manager) is a stay-at-home mom of twins Cohen and Ella (2) and Jenna (13). For The Playhouse, she has volunteered as stage manager, props chair, light and sound boards operator, usher and actor. She recently played Angel Mother in Pippi Longstocking.

Tyler Lubinus (Intern) is a freshman at Dallas Center-Grimes High School, where he is active in choir. Tyler made his Playhouse acting debut as Byron Murphy in Henry and Ramona. Since then, he has run sound at the Drama Workshop and followspot at The Playhouse for Chicago.

David A. Van Cleave (Intern) is a junior at Iowa Christian Academy, Urbandale. After making his stage debut as a Guard in Sleeping Beauty at The Playhouse, he took on additional roles at the Ingersoll Dinner Theatre and Playhouse, with his favorite to date being Henry Alden in The Boxcar Children (Playhouse). David has also volunteered backstage, most recently running followspot for The Playhouse's production of Chicago. In addition to acting, David likes reading, writing and poetry.
