Subject: The Des Moines Playhouse Presents Winnie-the-Pooh

Tickets are now on sale for Winnie-the-Pooh, May 5-21, at The Des Moines Playhouse. Tickets are $16 for adults, $15 for seniors and $12 for students, and may be purchased at The Playhouse box office, by phone at 515-277-6261, and online at www.dmplayhouse.com. Winnie-the-Pooh is sponsored by Wells Fargo.

Based on the book by A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh is the beautiful stage adaptation of the classic story of everyone's favorite bear, Winnie-the-Pooh, and his young friend, Christopher Robin. The play begins on a normal day in the Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh desperately trying to get some honey out of a beehive. The quiet day is soon interrupted with some terrifying news: A new animal is coming to town and it's bringing a bathtub. This play shows the value of friendship as Pooh and his friends Piglet, Rabbit, Owl and Eeyore deal with this strange new addition to the Wood.

The show is under the direction of Alison Shafer (director/choreographer of Honk!). The Playhouse cast features Playhouse veterans Barbara Simpson as Pooh, Jolene Schwartz as Piglet, Eric Bench as Owl, Joe Struss as Eeyore, Dominique L'Heureux as Roo and Chris Ragner as Rabbit/Narrator, and newcomers Justin Pontier as Christopher Robin and Carrie Hardisty as Kanga.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 3-1/2 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
