How I Became a Pirate

Sail off on a fantastic excursion when a band of comical pirates land at North Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob as they look for the perfect spot to bury their treasure. Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map. The whole family will love this delightful and swashbuckling musical adventure.

The Playhouse cast includes Steve Betz, Payton Boesch, Mary Bricker, Maddie Davis, Charlotte Rempe, Isabella Rempe, Cody Schug, Brett Spahr, Robert Uy, and Franny Winn. How I Became a Pirate is directed by Peter Dean with music direction by Emma Feldhans, choreography by Taylor Millar, scenic design by Jay M. Jagim, costume design by Jessica Van Essen, and lighting design by Virgil Kleinhesselink.

The Playhouse mission, as one of Iowa's largest and oldest producing theatres, is to create extraordinary, shared experiences through live theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
