Volunteer in guest services

Playhouse Volunteer Appreciation Party

Our tent season has been a rousing success. We have survived hail, rain, and heat. Actually, we have thrived this past year! And except for a “break” last spring, we have continuously produced theatre all season long. We were able to do it because of you! So now we invite you to a party as our honored guest.

Playhouse Volunteer Appreciation Party

5:30-7:00 PM
Wednesday, July 28
in the event tent at The Playhouse

Our menu, catered by Great Caterers of Iowa, will include grilled meat and grilled veggies, summer side dishes, cold sweet treats, and beer and soda. Come as you are: nothing formal, just good food and good fellowship under the big top!

Yes, the party, food, and drink are free, but we are asking for RSVPs to help us plan better.

Please come! We want to say think you for ALL that you do for The Playhouse. As a special bonus, we will have giveaways throughout the party!

Due to changes in procedures, all guest services volunteers are asked to attend a training session. The training will take place at the start of your first shift.

The Playhouse uses VolunteerLocal.com. This user-friendly website allows you to view available guest services shifts and check your schedule, all from the comfort of your home computer! When you sign up for a volunteer shift, you will receive an email from Volunteer Local, requesting that you confirm your shift. Please confirm your shift to complete your sign-up.

Safety Guide, updated June 29, 2021

The Des Moines Playhouse is following recommendations from state and local governments and from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In terms of volunteer safety, these measures include the following:

  • Please do not come if you are feeling unwell or have been unwell in the past 14 days, have been recently diagnosed with COVID-19, or are awaiting a COVID-19 test result.
  • Masks are no longer required for those who have been fully vaccinated. Masks are recommended for those who are not vaccinated.
  • Frequent handwashing and disinfecting of actors’ properties and greenroom spaces.
  • Social distancing is not a requirement but highly recommended.
  • Temperature screenings upon entrance into the building have ceased.
  • Sanitization of the theatre has ceased. A thorough daily cleaning using appropriate disinfectants remains in place.
  • Hand sanitizing stations placed throughout the building.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. If you are not comfortable taking this risk, please do not volunteer at The Playhouse yet. We respect and support that decision. If you plan to volunteer at The Playhouse you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

The Playhouse remains committed to monitoring the current recommendations, guidelines, and restrictions to which we are subject. Click here to download our full safety guide.
