Live Theatre Drive-In volunteer opportunities, June 12-Aug. 16, 2020

Drive-In staff will direct guests to their parking space, collect donations, and guide guests entering the building for restrooms, wiping down surfaces after each use. Dress is comfortable and weather appropriate; you are welcome to wear shorts. The Playhouse is providing each volunteer a safety vest, flashlight, face shield, and gloves. Masks available if desired and needed.

For your health and protection, please do not volunteer if you have the following:

  • Are feeling unwell or have been unwellin the past 14 days
  • Have had a positive test for COVID-19 or have a test pending
  • Are medically vulnerable
  • Do not feel comfortable volunteering.

The Playhouse is doing the following:

  • Increasing sanitation for public spaces within the building including providing hand sanitizer.
  • Practicing physical distancing of 6′ where possible and appropriate.
  • Requiring staff and volunteers to wear masks or face shields when interacting with the public and each other, and encouraging guests to bring masks to wear if entering the building.
  • Performing without intermission.
  • Encouraging donations and purchases by credit/debit card to reduce contact.

The Playhouse also has a volunteer opportunity that can be done at home. We need your help inputting data for our Internet Playhouse Database (IPDb), a searchable collection of shows and volunteers. All you need is a computer with internet access and several hours of time  (approximately 6 hours per season) to dedicate to the project. If interested, contact Lee Ann Bakros.

The Playhouse has canceled the remainder of the 2019-20 Season including Singin’ in the Rain, Pippi Longstocking, Leaving Iowa, and Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical.

We will be adjusting the 2020-21 season from what was originally announced. Changes will be announced this summer. Titles and dates are subject to change as necessitated.

How we're responding to coronavirus

Following examples of other arts and culture organizations, The Playhouse is staying current on CDC, World Health Organization, and Iowa Public Department of Health information.

Our longstanding policy, especially applicable today, is

  • Staff and volunteers should wash hands frequently.
  • Anyone who is unwell is to stay home.

Please wash your hands upon arrival and, if you are feeling unwell, do not come in. If you have concerns about coming in, please contact David Kilpatrick at 515.974.5353.
